April is “Second Chance Month”
April 2018 has been designated as national Second Chance Month. The announcement caps recent support of key justice programs including the Second Chance Act, according to the National Re-entry Resource Center.
The Act, which is 10 years old this year, enjoys bipartisan support and focuses on the importance of safe and successful reentry among people leaving prisons and jails, and supports work to improve reentry outcomes in communities across the nation. The recent Omnibus Appropriations bill increased funding for the Second Chance Act from the FY17 level of $68 million to $85 million for FY18.
